It is used as a flavour
enhancer for beef, pork, lamb, ribs, chicken, fish, salads and drinks.
Spices rarely spoil in the traditional sense, but they lose their flavor, aroma, and color over time. If they lack smell and color, they should be replaced.
How long do spices last?
Whole Spices: 2–3 years.
Ground Spices: 1–2 years.
Opened Spices: Should generally be used within 12 months for best flavor.
Store in a cool, dark, and dry cupboard. Avoid storing them near the stove, oven, or microwave, as heat and humidity can damage them.
Herbs come from the leaves of herbaceous plants, while spices are derived from other parts of the plant, such as the bark, root, seeds, or berries.
It is generally not recommended because of potential moisture condensation. However, red spices like paprika or chili powder can be frozen or refrigerated to maintain their color and keep them fresh.
